Giovanca

Giovanca , the stage name of Giovanca Desire Ostiana ( Alkmaar , March 22, 1977 ), is a Dutch singer, copywriter, presenter and model of Curaçao origin.

She visited the Keizer Karel College in Amstelveen and studied at the University of Amsterdam. She lives in Amsterdam.

She has performed as a background singer for ten years and has been in the studio with various acts, such as Izaline Calister , Rootsriders , known from Tribute 2 Bob Marley , Jhelisa Anderson , Benny Sings , Noisia and Wouter Hamel . Since 2006 she is increasingly out of the shade, initially in collaboration with other artists, but in 2008 also with a solo album.

In early 2007 she is one of the singers on the CD "The Mighty 8" of the National Pop Institute.

In 2007 she obtained her master's degree in orthopedagogics at the University of Amsterdam .

At the end of 2007 she was in the hit parade with "As long as we're in love" , a duet with Wouter Hamel . In the course of 2007, Giovanca appeared several times on national television (including De Wereld Draait Door , Pauw & Witteman ), in newspapers (including Het Parool ) and in magazines (including Nieuwe Revu ).

In March 2008 her solo debut album, entitled "Subway Silence" , was released with the label Dox Records . The first single from this album, titled "On My Way" , leads to live performances by, among others, GIEL , Raymann is Laat en Goedemorgen Nederland . She has also worked for charities. ^[1] As an ambassador of Plan Nederland she has been active in Sierra Leone .

Giovanca received a Silver Harp from Frank Boeijen on 3 March 2010 . On 26 March 2010 her album While I'm Awake was released, the first single of this album is Drop It . On September 20, 2013, her new album, Satellite Love, was released.

On 3 April 2016 her daughter Jesamy was born. Niels Nieuborg is the father. ^[2]

Starting January 2017, she presents the VPRO program Vrije Geluiden , as successor to Melchior Huurdeman .
