Pervis Staples. Born November 18, 1935. Drew, Mississippi. Tenor vocalist who came to prominence as a co-founding member of the legendary American gospel, soul, and R&B singing group, The Staple Singers.
In later years Pervis would leave the group to pursue other projects, one of which was to begin managing another Chicago act, The Hutchinson Sunbeams, who later became known as The Emotions.
