Larry "Jazz" Anthony (born 23 April 1978) in Baltimore, Maryland, is an R&B singer, songwriter, and dancer recognised for his role as the second lead vocalist in the group Dru Hill. Following a career featuring a solo project during a 1999–2002 group hiatus and numerous collaborations, Anthony has maintained a consistent presence in the R&B industry.
Career
During a hiatus for Dru Hill between 1999 and 2002, Anthony recorded a traditional R&B solo album under the Def Jam label. While the album remained unreleased, several tracks appeared on promotional mixtapes and soundtracks, including "Here With Me" for the Nutty Professor II: The Klumps soundtrack and "Love Again" with Jill Scott for Rush Hour 2. He also contributed to "Sweet November" for the Soul Food television series soundtrack and made guest appearances with artists such as Miss Jones and saxophonist Kim Waters. In 2008, the original members of Dru Hill reunited for a tour, and despite internal conflicts, Anthony has remained a consistent fixture in the group’s evolving line-up.
Personal Life
Anthony has balanced his performing career with significant work as a mentor and businessman. Through his company, Taj Entertainment, he has worked with artists such as Cherri Lala and the group Tre-Son’, and provided early career tutelage to producer Jim Beanz. Anthony is also involved in philanthropic efforts, specifically supporting "Kenya With Love," an initiative focused on providing food and resources to schools and orphanages in Kenya.
Current Activity
Anthony is active as a performer within the current touring line-up of Dru Hill and maintains a solo schedule as a singing saxophonist for corporate events. He holds executive positions as CEO and CCO at several entities, including Digi Grind Unlimited, Taj Entertainment, and Dru Hill Inc. At the time of writing, currently managed through his own entertainment firm.
