Tone Stith

Antonio Stith (born 26 July 1995; Marlton, New Jersey), better known by his stage name Tone Stith, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer.

Early Life

Stith was raised in a musical household in Marlton, New Jersey, the son of a vocalist who had performed with Patti LaBelle. He began playing drums at age three, introduced to the instrument by his father, and went on to learn piano, guitar, and bass. His mother helped nurture his singing after overhearing him singing along to a DVD of a Tyler Perry play, and he honed his vocal talent further while singing in church. Early influences included James Taylor, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, The Beatles, and the Bee Gees.

As a teenager, he taught himself to use music production software and formed the group SJ3, whose talent caught the attention of music executive Jas Prince, best known as the driving force behind Drake's early career.

Career

With Jas Prince's support, Stith launched a solo career, signing to Prince's Young Empire Music Group. His breakthrough as a songwriter came in 2014 and 2015, when he co-wrote and co-produced "Liquor" and "Make Love" for Chris Brown's platinum-certified album Royalty; "Liquor" reached number three on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and number 60 on the Hot 100, going platinum within five months of release.

Stith released his major-label debut album, Can We Talk, on 13 July 2017 through Young Empire Music Group and RCA Records, led by the single "Get It Right" and produced by the duo PRBLMSLVRS; the project drew praise from Complex, Billboard, and HipHopDX. He followed with the Good Company EP in 2018, featuring Swae Lee, Quavo, and Ty Dolla $ign, and his track "Light Flex," featuring 2 Chainz, appeared on the soundtrack to the film Uncle Drew. He toured with August Alsina and Rotimi on the Don't Matter Tour, and later supported H.E.R. on her "I Used to Know Her" tour. In 2021, he released the linked projects FWM and Still FWM, featuring collaborations with H.E.R., Chris Brown, Kiana Ledé, and Maeta. He continued releasing music independently and via MNRK Records, including the single "B.E.D" in 2022 and the project P.O.V. in 2023, alongside featured appearances on singles by Jaz Karis and Camper.

In 2025, he returned to headline releases with singles including "Shut Up" and "Girls Like You," building towards his second studio album, The Edge, released via MNRK Records on 15 May 2026. Produced largely by Kenneth "KP" Paige and Christopher "Brody" Brown, the ten-track album was led by the single "Fly," which topped Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart. Beyond Chris Brown, Stith has written and produced material for a range of R&B artists and has been credited as a co-writer on Brown's "Undecided."

Personal Life

Stith has spoken about his upbringing in a musically inclined family, including his father's introduction of him to the drums and his mother's role in nurturing his voice, as foundational to his artistic development. In interviews around the release of The Edge, he has spoken about faith, mental health, and personal growth as central to his approach to songwriting, describing the album as the first project through which he felt he had a complete artistic message. His journey from a South Jersey church choir to major-label success has been a recurring thread in interviews, and his multi-instrumental ability alongside his songwriting and production credits has earned him recognition as a well-rounded talent within the contemporary R&B scene.

Stith released his second studio album, The Edge, on 15 May 2026, led by the chart-topping single "Fly," and continues to promote the project while remaining active as a sought-after songwriter and producer for other acts.
